"We visited Steve McIntyre while preparing our 2009 report on the Santa Lucia Highlands. Now that were beginning work on our next report on the Wines of Monterey County, we decided it was time to retaste Steves complete wine portfolio. Steve makes some of the Countys best Chardonnay and Pinot Noir..."

2009 Estate Block K-1 Chardonnay 91 Points - Wine Enthusiast"This is the winerys best, small-production Chardonnay. Its considerably better than their regular 2009 Chardonnay. Shows minerality and acidity that make it appealing to the connoisseur, with rich lime and apricot fruit. For all the richness, the finish is dry. Drink now." - SH91 Points - International Wine Review"This starbright light yellow straw Chardonnay reveals smoky oak and summer melon with a green mango accent. Its lush, clean and full on a refined, Burgundian palate with nicely integrated flavors, good acidity, and finishing very long with hazelnut notes. This wine will pair beautifully with salmon, trout, and white meat dishes." -----------------------------------------------------------------2009 Kimberly Vineyards Merlot90+ Points - International Wine Review"This brilliant dark ruby Merlot shows rich scents of ripe, red fruit with a hint of blueberry. Soft and velvet like on an effusively fruity palate, it is lush and balanced with ripe tannins on a long, flavorful finish. Absolutely delicious, and one of the better Merlots we've had out of California this year." -----------------------------------------------------------------2008 Estate Pinot Noir 90 Points - Wine Enthusiast"Inky dark, full-bodied, dry and, in a word, huge. Thats this Pinot, which shows typical Santa Lucia power. Densely concentrated in raspberry, cherry and blackberry fruit, its strong in tannins, but theyre velvety soft. An interesting wine, not particularly Pinot-esque, but delicious and possibly ageworthy."93 Points - Affairs of the Vine"A deep perfume of plum, wild berries, spice, and a hint of oak rises from the glass. Delicious dark red stone fruit with great acid. The perfect combo. Lots of alcohol here but it's well integrated. Nice wine!"9th Annual Pinot Shootout & Summit, February 26th, 2011 in San FranciscoGold medal winner and 2nd overall out of 650 enteries at the blind tasting Pinot Shootout. LINK90 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine"Keenly focused on complex cherry aromas whose background notes of black plums, root beer, and smoky caramel lift it into a higher plane, the wine is invitingly supple in the early goings on at the front of palate and nicely firmed up at the back. It never gives up any of its charm at any point, and if it seems to beg for drinking up now, it is sure to grow and stay in fine fettle as the years go by. It is a wine worth holding."Prince of Pinot"Deep perfume of plum reduction sauce, wild berries and a hint of oak. Delicious and plush dark red stone fruits and berries with a substantial tannic backbone and a dry finish that clings to the palate." -----------------------------------------------------------------2007 Mission Ranch Pinot Noir89 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine"Deep and extracted but in no way beholden to ripeness, this one smells of dark cherries with a hint of hardwoods to its credit, and it is again on the well-constructed side on the palate. Sturdy, a touch tight at the back and seeming to be headed in the right direction, it does show a bit of an acidy tail end and will want up to five years of aging to be at its best."
